CENTER OF CULTURE AND INFORMATION

 

    It is the youngest institution in the area of culture in Bitola, established just half a decade ago. After the disappearance of the Cultural-Educational Association (CEA), which was basically involved with organization and presentation of mass amateur creation in companies, districts, schools and other forms of cultural educational self-activities, it was estimated that that area in citizens’ cultural living should be covered by another organization in the cultural field of the city.

    After its establishment, the five-six employed, together with other activists and fans, mostly young people from mass areas (primary and secondary schools, University, companies etc.) are engaged in a new and specific way in order to contribute to the development of city’s culture life. In cooperation with professional institutions (Cultural Center, Institution, Museum and Gallery, National Theatre, The University Library etc.), cultural-artistic associations, clubs, societies and other citizens’ associations, cooperate and organize drama groups, music bands, ballet groups, literary clubs. Through collective animation of creative act, the Center organizes the Center organizes concerts, theatre plays, book promotions, exhibitions, tours etc. All this shows that amateurism, new art challenges and multimedia contents, realized in a creation sense and a certain symbol of the traditional elite culture, have their own audience which finds interest though these forms of spiritual living as well.

During the last years, the Cultural Center appears as an organizer of certain festival manifestations, competitions which demand a more professional attitude in the realization of projects of this kind. A confirmation of this is the successful organization of performances from the program at the Bitola Summer Festival, Heraclea Nights, which is a significant contribution to enriching the cultural life of our city. Time and social trends in culture are yet another challenge for this organization as well.
